Come with an appetite and your opinions, ideas, hopes and dreams for and about Telos. At our usual brunch time, we’ll gather in small groups to plan ways to implement our 3 areas of focus: Worship, Service, Community. Each group will be a group for up to 8 weeks (unless they decide to go longer). This is all to get us closer to our Big Huge Audacious Goal for 2020: That we will be able to tell about how we flopped Godward in various ways.
We’ll meet once a month during brunch. Each table at brunch will be an “ad hoc” committee, focused around one of our three areas of Worship, Service and Community.
Each table will only exist as an “ad hoc” committee for a maximum of 8 weeks (unless they choose a longer project)
Each table will choose something to do in their area, divide it up amongst themselves get-r-done!
But what if I’m not there on January 19th?
Just email Beth (email@example.com) and let her know which area you’d like to be connected with, and we’ll let that table know (and hopefully they won’t give you ALL the jobs in abstentia…)
Can you give me some examples?
For the Worship group – They have the task of planning and implementing improvements/enhancements to our worship times. Maybe they will decide to implement more visual art into our worship times, or introduce more instruments or different music, or participate in reading scripture or prayers, or adding drama to a
worship service, or….
For the Service group – they get to have 10% of Telos’ offerings from the previous 8 weeks – with the task of doing something to bless/help/love on somebody who needs it. Maybe they will help a particular family facing a crisis, maybe they will choose an agency with which to partner for a couple months, maybe they will enlist all
of Telos in packaging food up for food banks, maybe…
For the Community group – they will have the task of creating awareness about Telos in our Community. Maybe they’ll plan and host a 4-square tournament with gourmet s’mores. Maybe they’ll plan a trivia night or board game night, or…
For the Execution group – this is the nitty-gritty of Telos – the little things that need to be executed well (set-up, tear-down, cleanup, greeting people, welcoming newcomers, other stuff I haven’t thought of). And how much fun would it be to tell somebody that you have joined the Execution group at church?
Telos is in for some adventures in 2020! I can’t wait to see what these groups, mixed
up with the Holy Spirit and the gospel, come up with for Telos!
