Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner – Tuesday, March 5th from 6-8pm We are hosting our neighbors and friends for a traditional Shrove Tuesday (AKA Mardi Gras!) pancake supper. We need you to share the invitation with your friends & family AND sign up to volunteer. Why do we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday? Because people used to abstain from butter, milk, eggs and meat during Lent (the six weeks before Easter), and to use all of that up, they would have a community party with pancakes as the main event.

Parenting Class Opportunity

We promised a parenting class – not to fix bad parenting, but to enhance your skills for the most important and difficult job you’ll have. You can check out the curriculum we’re going to use here. There will be a fee of $50 to cover the costs for childcare and materials – but if cost is an issue, please don’t let that stop you! More importantly, childcare will be provided, and we need to know which time would work best for you so we can have the most participation possible: Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. or from 2-4 p.m. Vote now!

Women’s Night In: Galentine’s Day

At the last Women’s Night In, we made small Valentines to be given out to young women at Antioch High School who need to know they are loved. We learned this week that one of those young women has faced more in her 16 years than anyone should in a lifetime. Her mother passed in December from cancer that was diagnosed in November. She is a mother herself, to a one-year old, whose father has recently been deported. Our Valentine of candy, a note and a small gift card is such a small thing to us. I’m told that for her, it will be a little bit of light in a dark season, a reminder that she matters. Each week, we pray for God’s will to be done on earth as in heaven. It’s small, but it’s a part, and when you support Telos, you support that start. Thank you!
